Transforming Lives Through Specialized Education and Behavioral Support
Hunting Bayou Achievement Center partners with Texas schools to deliver therapeutic academics, stabilizing behavior while advancing learning for students facing intense emotional, psychiatric, and educational challenges.

As a TEA-approved therapeutic day school, HBAC bridges the gap between specialized settings and traditional classrooms, combining rigorous academics with intensive behavioral supports so every learner, age six through twenty-two, can thrive.
Our Mission and Core Vision
Hunting Bayou Achievement Center exists to cultivate resilient, self-directed learners who can navigate life beyond our classrooms. We pursue this mission by blending accredited K-12 instruction with individualized behavior intervention plans crafted by certified teachers, licensed therapists, and registered behavior technicians. Low student-to-staff ratios allow us to de-escalate crises quickly, teach replacement skills in real time, and celebrate incremental successes. Our ultimate vision is to return each student to their home campus or community life empowered and prepared for lasting success.

Our Multi-Disciplinary Care Approach
Every learnerโs plan is developed collaboratively by special educators, board-certified behavior analysts, licensed professional counselors, and paraprofessionals. Together, we conduct functional assessments, set measurable academic and behavioral goals, and review progress daily. Data drive our adjustments, whether that means introducing trauma-informed counseling, occupational therapy, or social skills coaching. Parents and home-district staff join regular meetings, ensuring continuity when the student transitions back to their neighborhood campus. This wraparound model keeps interventions aligned, consistent, and responsive to each childโs evolving needs.
Purpose-Built Secure Campus Facilities
Our 12,000-square-foot center includes sensory-friendly classrooms, calming rooms, and secured outdoor recreation areas designed for movement breaks. Safety is reinforced through continuous video monitoring, and crisis-prevention-trained staff stationed throughout the building. Technology-enhanced learning allow academic catch-up, while vocational spaces teach pre-employment skills. Every design element supports dignity, minimizes triggers, and creates a predictable environment for students to refocus on learning and growth.

Our special education classrooms are fully equipped and tailored to our target student demographic. The physical layout is strictly designed for the elimination of barriers in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
